Sandy and Alex chat about their favorite dessert-ish recipes ranging from healthy to not-so-healthy. Their favorite sweet cabbage dish is listed below along with the cover of the magazine that made Sandy look great for turning 100 years old!
Cabbage and Onion Braise (serves 4)
¼ cup unsalted
butter
1 medium head
green cabbage, cored and shredded
1 large onion, sliced crosswise and separated
into rings
1 red bell
pepper, seeded and finely chopped
1 green bell pepper, seeded and cut lengthwise
into strips
1 teaspoon
stevia powder
1 teaspoon
caraway seeds
Salt &
Pepper
¼ cup dry white
wine
*Sandy doesn’t include bell peppers when she cooks this recipe!*
Preheat the oven to 350°F. Melt butter in a large heavy-bottomed oven-safe saucepan over medium heat. Add the cabbage, online, and bell peppers, tossing to blend. Sprinkle on the stevia and caraway seeds and season with salt and pepper to taste. Add the white wine and again toss to blend. >Cover and transfer to the preheated oven. Cook, covered, until the vegetables are very tender and well flavored, about 30 minutes. Remove from the oven and serve!
